Moya’s Place first opened in Nuevo Arenal in April, 2005 with a vision of good food, music, art, and community. Over the years we have formed many beautiful relationships allowing us to support local farms, small businesses, and the arts, as well as offer handmade goods and jewelry, and bring joy through live music.

Our restaurant and menu sprouted and continue to grow from a place of love and passion! It is our mission to serve delicious food in an artistic space that nourishes the mind, body and spirit.

We are delighted that everyone can find something hearty and tasty to eat at Moya’s Place, regardless of dietary preference. We have options for gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, and those who eat it all!

We are dedicated to continue evolving and being the best we can with the resources available, and we are so thrilled you are here supporting our endeavor.

It is our intention to avoid toxic and artificial ingredients—we take pride in creating our own flavors and sauces from scratch with real food ingredients. In our kitchen we strictly avoid soy oil, margarine, refined sugar, fluoridated table salt, meat tenderizers, and consomme (monosodium glutamate based flavor powders).

Rather, we choose to use products such as extra virgin olive oil, herbs & artisanal spices, local sea salt, raw sugar, local honey, homemade & local bread, wild-caught seafood, and local & grass-fed dairy—as much as possible.

Graven Solera... 15 years with Moya's Place

When I started Moya's Place my experience in running a business was very little, although I had worked in the gastronomic area. At that moment I really wanted to create something and nurture myself with that idea, to share with clients or visitors. Although I must admit that I had no idea of all the work that was behind that beginning, that dream. However, here we are.

If we had to choose a moment that has marked a before and after, it is undoubtedly Mary's arrival. Her role has been transcendental because the restaurant took a very important turn by focusing much more on the health and well-being of our customers. With her knowledge we were able to open up gastronomically to a clientele with a healthier palate, making us more aware of what we are offering and putting in the mouths of our customers. Mary's role has been very important because of the great change she has brought in the last few years.

One of the challenges we have faced has been to maintain quality, to be consistent over time and to generate the energy and essence that we like to transmit to our clientele. We have grown with their tastes, interests and aspirations that have allowed a cultural, healthy and tasty space.

Moya's Place for Nuevo Arenal means a cultural place, a different place... a special environment where you can come with your family and share pleasant moments and a gastronomic experience as well. Here we intend to generate value to a 'pura vida' culture.

In the restaurant there are many moments that have given me happiness. Most of all when I see people enjoying, happy, tasting what they are eating or dancing, or full of enthusiasm for the atmosphere in the place. It has made me happy to have met many wonderful people who are an important part of my life.

Moya's Place is a multicultural place, a space where all people are welcome. Here they can meet for the same reason: to have joyful experiences, to share with friends, to meet people. No matter the nationality, skin color or sex, it is a place to unite cultures and that is represented in the many paintings and sculptures of the place. No matter the religion, nationality or where you are from, we emphasize that the place is to enjoy and share.
